I Tracked My Health Data for a Year. Here’s What I Learned

In an era where every step, heartbeat, and sleep cycle can be meticulously quantified, out lives are increasingly moving in the direction of health data. Understanding our body and its inner workings can unlock the secrets to our well-being.

For the past 365 days I have been collecting health data about myself in hopes of discovering patterns and insights on how I can make my health journey the best it could possibly be.

It’s safe to say I have come across some insights about myself that I plan to use in order to optimize my workouts, sleep, and nutrition.

So what kind of data matters? In a world that is constantly being more digitized and almost anything can be measured objectively, how do we know which metrics matter, and how relevant they are to providing us the answers we need?

Recently, there has been increased research into specific metrics such as HRV (heart rate variability), sleep cycles, energy expenditure, blood oxygen, and recovery.
